Friday 20th October saw the return of our much feted PTFA Quiz Night in our very own St Mary’s Assembly Hall.
A great night’s entertainment and with the added benefit of raising much appreciated funds for the Friends of the Cancer Centre charity. £590 was raised on the night and we look forward to presenting this.
9 teams battled the weather and made it as far as the comfort and warmth of the school for a night of entertainment, great craic and trivia.
A mix of regular faces and new competitors made for an intriguing event, and the competition was fierce.
Through it all, the music rounds, the movie and TV themes, sport, general knowledge, picture rounds, history and the now infamous Dingbats, 9 rounds of brain-teasing saw those present tested to the limit.
‘All Hocus and No Focus’, ‘The Ghost of St Mary’s Past’, ‘The B Team’, ‘Simple Minds’, ‘Ardoyne Junior B Champs’ and ‘There’s Something About St Mary’s’ were only separated by a few points throughout the night, but in the end there was nothing to separate the top teams.
For the first time in the history of the Quiz Night, a tie-breaker was needed to determine first and second, and after what seemed like an endless list of tie-break questions, ‘There’s Something About St Mary’s’ proved victorious.
After a great event, all left happy and looking forward to the next event in March.
The Quiz night could not have happened without the hard work of the members of the PTFA and also huge thanks must go to those individuals, businesses and companies, some of whom prefer not to be mentioned, who generously contributed prizes and donations to the event. Go raibh céad maith agaibh uilig.
