On behalf of our entire school community, I am delighted to welcome you to our school website. I hope you enjoy reading about the exciting opportunities we provide for our pupils. At St. Mary’s, we pride ourselves on our pastoral care, the holistic development of our pupils and the pursuit of academic excellence.
St. Mary’s CBGS is an all-boys voluntary grammar school located on the Glen Road in West Belfast. The school was founded by the Christian Brothers in 1866 and moved to our current site in 1968. The school is inspired by the vision of Edmund Rice, who sought to create schools that provide excellent education and cultivate Gospel-based values. St. Mary’s continues this work today with over 1,180 students aged 11-19.
The ethos of our school is underpinned by our core values of trust, respect and equality. Our teachers recognise the uniqueness of every student, encourage firm friendships among the boys and foster a sense of community. It is within this caring and supportive environment that our students are able to develop their unique talents, becoming enthusiastic and highly motivated learners.
