We held the first ever St Mary’s Careers Exploration Week for Years 8 to 11 pupils from 21st to 27th June.
Pupils attended the computer suites to complete focused careers research, we welcomed several past pupil guest speakers who shared their career paths and pupils entered a careers competition where they shared information on a career of interest.
It was a busy and enjoyable week, and pupils enjoyed finding out about lots of different careers, including some that they hadn’t even thought about before! They also picked up many useful tips and advice from our past pupils, such as the importance of developing transferable skills while at school by getting involved in extra-curricular activities and helping in our local communities along with realising that career paths usually aren’t a straight line and can have some twists and turns along the way.
Thank you to all the pupils and staff for their involvement in the week and a special thank you to our guest speakers who gave so generously of their time and expertise.
