Newly appointed Principal, Mr Brendan McComb commended students on their successes and acknowledged the hard work and support invested by teaching and support staff,
“We are immensely proud of our students and their achievements today. It was a pleasure to see their efforts pay off as they opened envelopes today and the rain could not dampen their celebrations. We are all aware that this year saw the resumption to pre-pandemic standards of marking even though the ripples of the pandemic continue to be felt in schools, but the entire St Mary’s community is delighted that our pupils’ hard work and determination has been rewarded. It is important to acknowledge our parents who have been unwavering in their support for the students and the school. Of course, the staff of St Mary’s must be applauded for all they do for our pupils – we have had staff delivering revision classes from 8am, others staying late in the evenings and even giving up weekends and holidays to deliver extra learning opportunities for the boys. Our Learning Support staff and our classroom assistants also deserve recognition for all that they do to ensure our pupils are well supported. On behalf of the St Mary’s community, I send congratulations to our A- Level pupils and thank them for their valuable contributions to the life of the school community. I am certain they will secure further success in their next endeavor whether that be at university, further education college, apprenticeship or employment. We are excited to welcome back our AS students and continue working in partnership with them and their parents so that they may build on the successes achieved today.”
