School Uniform Project

24th May 2023

Once again, the West Belfast School Uniform Project will be collecting good quality pre-loved school uniforms for local nursery, primary and post-primary schools – we hope St Mary’s CBGS can get involved.

This summer will be the 5th year of the West Belfast School Uniform Project and we foresee greater demand for this practical support. The community support through giving uniform donations, volunteering and promoting the project has enabled us to support nearly 500 families since July 2019. We, once again, ask for donations of out-grown, pre-loved school uniforms for nursery, primary and post-primary schools in West Belfast. Could your school families donate any out-grown uniforms, in good condition, to the project?

We need skirts, trousers, dresses, school ties, jumpers, school named polo-shirts, jumpers and coats as well as blazers, shirts and PE kits. Due to hygiene reasons, we cannot accept socks and tights unless new.

If possible, donations can be collected in school to then arrange with our team to transport to our sorting point at St John’s Parish Hall (444 Falls Road, Belfast). Or you can notify parents/guardians to donate directly to the project – we will be hosting donation days on Friday 30th June from 12pm to 2pm, Monday 3rd July from 2pm to 5pm and Tuesday 25th July from 11am to 12.30pm.

We also ask for your help in raising awareness of the project with parents and guardians. We want to help as many families as possible – could you share on your social media, parent-mail or in other ways about the School Uniform Project? If you are aware of families who would benefit from this practical support, please encourage them to pop down to St John’s Parish Hall on Tuesday 25th, Wednesday 26th or Thursday 27th July from 2pm to 6pm. All uniforms are free and there is no criteria or information needed to access this support.

Our website http://www.schooluniformproject.com and School Uniform Project – Belfast Facebook page provides up to date information on the project as well as donations and volunteering opportunities.

We hope you will be able to be part of the West Belfast School Uniform Project this year. Please get in touch with us by email at [email protected] or by phone 02890 351020 for more information.
