In September, we have welcomed representatives from several universities to school to speak to our Year 14 students. At this point in the year, our Year 14s are making decisions on their pathways forward beyond St Mary’s. Students who wish to attend university are in the process of completing the UCAS application process and are deciding which universities and courses will make up their five choices.
We have hosted talks from the University of Stirling and Liverpool John Moores University. The speakers covered a range of topics relating to studying at these universities, including available courses and entrance requirements, student support, finance, accommodation, clubs, employability and industry links.
The University Roadshow also visited school, with students receiving a talk providing advice on all aspects of applying to university before having the opportunity to visit the university stands and speak to the representatives to find out more about what each university has to offer. Universities represented included Glasgow Caledonian, Newcastle, Northumbria, UHI, Wrexham and York St John. Congratulations to Zach Kennedy from 14E who won a goodie bag from Wrexham University!
We are looking forward to welcoming Queen’s University, Ulster University and St Mary’s University College to school in the coming weeks.
