{"id":770,"date":"2018-10-15T10:39:08","date_gmt":"2018-10-15T09:39:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/st.wibblehosting.com\/?p=770"},"modified":"2019-09-20T12:38:15","modified_gmt":"2019-09-20T11:38:15","slug":"pta-defibrilator-fundraising-quiz","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stmaryscbgs.com\/extra-curricular\/pta-defibrilator-fundraising-quiz\/","title":{"rendered":"PTA Defibrilator Fundraising Quiz"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Friday 28<sup>th<\/sup> September St. Mary\u2019s CBGS PTFA held their annual quiz in the school assembly hall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eight quiz teams assembled on a Friday evening to raise funds for an outdoor secure unit for our recently acquired school defibrillator, presented to the school by Sport NI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Popular quiz master Mr McDonnell provided plenty of humour on the evening and was assisted on stage by Mr Herron, who welcomed all assembled guests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Wingnuts\u2019 edged in front in the first general knowledge round of the evening \u2013 though a hastily assembled staff team called \u2018The Miscreants\u2019 demonstrated an excellent knowledge of music themes to displace \u2018The Wingnuts\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The aforementioned duo were tied with \u2018The Sleeping Beauties\u2019 who, contrary to their name, were very much awake during the Film and TV round and the Dingbats round was edged by \u2018The Good, the Bad and the Ugly\u2019 ahead of the \u2018B Team\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tension was palpable as the Sport round took centre stage before the midway point in proceedings \u2013 none of the eight sides covered themselves in glory as the creator of the sport round was heckled for a rather suspect array of questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the midway point \u2018The Miscreants\u2019 had their noses in front, though lost ground on the \u2018History\u2019 round as \u2018Wingnuts\u2019 closed the gap \u2013 scoring 10 out of 10 along with the \u2018The Sleeping Beauties\u2019 who were far from living up to their name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018The Sleeping Beauties\u2019 and \u2018The B Team\u2019 shared top spot in the Audio and Music round \u2013 whilst at the top of the standings \u2013 \u2018The Miscreants\u2019 and \u2018Wingnuts\u2019 were now neck and neck with two rounds remaining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second general knowledge round would prove decisive as \u2018Wingnuts\u2019 regained the lead they held on the first general knowledge round \u2013 scoring full marks along with the \u2018The Good, the Bad and the Ugly\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was a lead they failed to relinquish and in the end \u2018Wingnuts\u2019 were quiz winners \u2013 with \u2018The Miscreants\u2019 punished for their errors in the second half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Third place saw a tie-break between \u2018The Sleeping Beauties\u2019 and the \u2018No Brainers\u2019 \u2013 in order to settle on third, the two groups agreed to a sing-off rather than the suggested dance-off and it was \u2018The Sleeping Beauties\u2019 who took third with a perfect rendition of Labi Siffre \u2018Something Inside So Strong\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The quiz once again proved to be another fantastic evening of craic, laughs and entertainment and we thank everyone who took time to come and along and contributed towards our aim of securing an outdoor defibrillator unit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The PTFA would like to acknowledge everyone who contributed a prize for the event including;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New Haven Caf\u00e9 Lurgan<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gymco<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hunting Lodge<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CF Autos<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday 28th September St. Mary\u2019s CBGS PTFA held their annual quiz in the school assembly hall.
