\u00a3830 raised as the PTFA fundraising quiz has the best turnout yet!<\/p>\n

St. Mary\u2019s CBGS PTFA held the first of their two annual quizzes on Friday evening in the school assembly hall and participants came in their numbers.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Proceeds from the quiz were going towards the schools new AEN \/ Student Support Hub and on the evening \u00a3820 was raised towards resources for the new hub.<\/p>\n

In what was the biggest turnout for the PTFA quiz to date with twelve teams doing battle for the annual bragging rights.<\/p>\n

\u2018Square Wheel Friels\u2019 made a lightning start and led the way after the first general knowledge round, with \u2018The B Team\u2019 and \u2018One Smart Fellow he Felt Smart\u2019 in close pursuit and \u2018The Muffin Tops\u2019 well off the pace with a solitary point.<\/p>\n

The lead changed hands after the first music round as \u2018One Smart Fellow he Felt Smart\u2019 living up to its name and forging ahead \u2013 it was a lead they wouldn\u2019t relinquish \u2013 holding off a steady challenge from \u2018The Crispies\u2019, \u2018The B team\u2019 and the \u2018Pumpkin Paupers\u2019.<\/p>\n

There was plenty of craic and even a steward\u2019s enquiry on the night \u2013 not least regarding a spot-prize question in the music round involving \u2018Life of Reilly\u2019 from the Lightning Seeds!<\/p>\n

But it wouldn\u2019t be a quiz without some entertainment and debate and it\u2019s fair to say that the quiz lived up to expectations and the countdown is already onto the second quiz later on in the academic year.<\/p>\n

Well done to all the participants and to \u2018One Smart Fellow, He Felt Smart\u2019 on their victory on the night. A hugely entertaining evening for a great cause.<\/p>\n

Further thanks to all who contributed prizes to the event, and to local businesses who generously contributed to the prize pot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n
