As Principal of St. Mary’s Christian Brothers’ Grammar School, I am writing to inform you that the school will be closed from today. To date, I have made decisions, along with the Board of Governors and senior staff, in the best interests of the school. Our aim has been to ensure the health and safety of the pupils and staff and wider communities.
I was keen to support the Minister’s request in relation to the availability of childcare facilities for key workers in this crisis. However, I have now completed a risk assessment, and this has indicated that due to several factors we are no longer able to provide childcare support for key workers.
I am also well aware of the new, increased safety measures put in place late last night to minimise the risk of infection. Consequently, the school, will only be open on an ad hoc basis for key staff only. If you need to contact the school, please use the email addresses that were issued to you last week.
Remote Learning
All teaching will be online and staff will be supporting your son’s learning remotely. There are a number of remote learning help sheets on our school website under the ‘News’ section. I would encourage you to make use of these. If your son is having problems logging into his account and needs his password refreshed, do not phone the school as the school office is closed. The setting of new passwords is being managed remotely, if required, email the school’s info account [email protected]
Free School Meals (FSM)
It is our understanding that arrangements are being put in place shortly for fortnightly direct payments to families. The school has no further information at this time.
These are challenging times and we greatly value the work that everyone is doing to limit the long-term impact of this potentially devastating virus. Please keep your families safe at this time. We will have you all in our thoughts and prayers.
