News & Events

There will be a meeting of the Student Council on Monday 20th November during the Form Period.

Council Reps are asked to go to Q11 before the end of break so they can be brought to the new meeting venue.

The meeting will include the new uniform addition for student council reps and consent forms for the upcoming student council reward trip.

There will be a meeting of the Social Justice Advocacy Group on Monday 20th November at 3.15pm in Q11.

The meeting is to plan for our actions over the coming weeks and to launch our homeless hot lunch and shoe box appeal.

The meeting will last 30 minutes and any new students interested are asked to come along.

The next meeting of the Parents, Teachers and Friends Association of St Mary's will take place in the school next Wednesday 22nd November at 7pm.

All members are asked to attend and new members are, as always, welcome.

Recently, the Parent, Teacher and Friends Association organised their annual quiz for the school community in support of Lighthouse Charity.

The night proved to be a huge success with an excellent mixture of parents, past-pupils, friends and current and former staff of St Mary’s making up some very competitive, and some not so competitive teams!

The Quiz challenged and engaged our revellers all in a jovial and entertaining atmosphere and as the night approached the latter hours, three teams edged in front to battle out the final rounds.

The overall winning team was ‘The Hateful Eight’, who, following a stewards’ enquiry into the amount of members on the team, were awarded the overall title of Quiz Champions for the night.

A great night was enjoyed by all with over £300 raised for Lighthouse Charity and pupil awards.

The night would not have been possible without the generous contribution of prizes from parents, staff and local businesses.

The school would ask that you support our school partners and all who contribute to school events, with thanks on this occasion going to:

O’Neill’s Sportswear

The Hunting Lodge Bar and Restaurant

Dear Parent(s) / Guardian(s)

Classes will be dismissed on Friday 17th November 2017 at 1.40 pm in order to allow us to prepare for the GL Assessment on Saturday.

We have arranged with Translink that the Crumlin bus and Black’s Road bus will arrive on Friday at 1.40 pm.  The school bus to North Belfast will also arrive at 1.40 pm.  As normal, staff will be at the school entrance to supervise the safe exit of all students.

Thank you for your understanding and your continued support for the school.

Yours faithfully

John Martin

A selection of our Year 11 students were in awe after watching the Lyric Theatre production of Blackout, illustrating the dangers and consequences of making the wrong decisions on a night out.

The school was honoured to welcome back past pupil Francis Mezza as one of the lead actors.

Another special word of thanks goes to the three courageous contributors who, as part of the BLACKOUT Team were able to leave Hydebank College for the day and share their experiences with our students. Our boys asked questions and the three visitors spoke frankly and honestly about the wrong decisions they made, the consequences resulting from that, and how they are working to a positive future.

Many thanks to all involved.

Following guidance from NI Executive, St Mary's will be closed tomorrow, Monday 16th October. SCHOOL will reopen as normal on Tuesday 17th October.
